The National Meteorological Service (SNM) in San Juan reported that Puerto Rico will experience a more active rain pattern on Wednesday, driven by an increase in easterly winds. A strengthening high-pressure system over the eastern Atlantic will lead to moderate to locally strong winds, causing showers to move towards the US Virgin Islands, Vieques, Culebra, and the El Yunque area in the morning.
Rainfall activity may extend to other areas throughout the day, with afternoon showers concentrating in western and western interior Puerto Rico due to the wind direction change. Although temperatures in the middle levels of the atmosphere will be less favorable for strong storm development, there will still be sufficient humidity to generate showers and some thunderstorms.
The SNM warned of a limited risk of urban flooding, small stream flooding, and water accumulation on roads and areas with poor drainage where more persistent rainfall occurs. Temperatures are expected to be slightly lower than in recent days due to the increased winds and atmospheric conditions.
