The Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA) told a House committee that it expects to complete work on the pumping station in La Puntilla, Arecibo, by November. The station has operated with provisional infrastructure since Hurricane Maria struck in 2017. AAA Deputy Executive Director of Infrastructure Carlos M. González Andújar informed the House of Representatives' Northern Region Committee that the project would be finished by November 27 of this year.

The committee has opened an investigation into the condition, operation, continuity and suitability of the provisional pumping stations in Arecibo, with particular attention to the one in the La Puntilla sector, which has been in service since the hurricane. The provisional plant runs on two diesel tanks. González Andújar said the infrastructure work is 87 percent complete.

To date, $18.7 million has been disbursed out of the $19.9 million that has been obligated for construction.
