BSN President Proposes Return of Latin American Reinforcement for 2027 Season

Ricardo Dalmau, president of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN), proposed the return of the Latin American reinforcement for the 2027 season during a meeting of the board of directors. The proposal is similar to one that existed in the past, where one of the imported players from each team would have to be from the Latin American region, as part of a strategy to expand the league's reach in that market.

Currently, the tournament is played with three imported players from anywhere in the world. The measure will be presented during the meeting to amend the BSN's general regulations in the coming months. The recent BSN final featured three players from the Dominican Republic, and Dalmau highlighted the interest generated by the league among fans from the neighboring country.

The BSN last had a Latin American reinforcement in 2016, and the league established a third imported player for the 12 franchises in 2025. The board of directors also approved the start of the tournament on March 20 with 34 games per team and the end of the tournament before August 5.
