Representative Víctor Parés said the House report on the failed Power Expectations contract will include referrals to the Puerto Rico Department of Justice, the FEI and the FBI so each agency can evaluate the information as part of its investigations. Although the report already has a draft, the committee expects to receive transcripts of the public hearings and attach additional documents before publishing it on the House website for public access.
Parés said he wants the documents posted so any media outlet or citizen can read them. He confirmed he received, after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, the information requested from attorney Osvaldo Carlos, including the chat related to the failed contract. The committee will review the documents with the House legal team to determine which could affect local or federal investigations and which can be made public.
It is also working on a partial report it hopes to submit to the House. Parés said there are three volumes of chats involving Osvaldo Carlos, Josué Colón and María Zapata, who indicated she had been requesting information on the documents to be attached to the contract for her signature. He noted she mentioned this under oath at the public hearing and has been consistent.
Parés announced new public hearings, in which the committee will summon under oath members of the committees that recommended the agreement to explain who guided them, whom they met with and what information their recommendation was based on.
