Furtivo Speakeasy, located on Calle Loíza, has been nominated as one of the 20 best 'speakeasy' bars in the US by 'USA TODAY 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards’. This is the only establishment in Puerto Rico to be nominated in this category. The selection puts Furtivo among a group of bars competing for a spot in the top 10 list through a public vote, which is open until October 12.
The results will be announced on October 21. According to Wilfredo Torres, owner of Furtivo Speakeasy, this nomination is an opportunity to showcase Puerto Rico’s level of mixology and hospitality. Furtivo offers an immersive experience inspired by the Prohibition era, combining mixology, gastronomy, hospitality, and storytelling.
The bar has also received international recognition, including 1 Pin from The Pinnacle Guide, a system that evaluates the excellence of bars through anonymous visits. Torres believes that Puerto Rico’s presence in these platforms helps build an international conversation about the island’s industry, highlighting its talent, local products, creativity, and culture of hospitality.
