The Colegio de Médicos Veterinarios de Puerto Rico (CMVPR) held a free vaccination event in San Juan and Humacao, where approximately 820 pets, including dogs and cats, received vaccination services. The event was part of an initiative to commemorate World Rabies Day, celebrated on September 28. A total of 1,640 vaccines were administered, including 820 rabies vaccines and 820 doses of DHLPP and FVRCP vaccines for dogs and cats, respectively.
The event was attended by 20 veterinarians, veterinary technicians, students, and volunteers. According to Dr. Harold Lidin, president of the CMVPR, the vaccination event demonstrates the need and value of continuing to develop initiatives that facilitate access to preventive veterinary services for families. The event was held in partnership with the Puerto Rico Department of Health, the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, and other organizations.
