Why this matters: The event will bring together Puerto Rico’s music community to celebrate the island’s cultural heritage and the enduring impact of merengue on its popular culture.

Junny Ramos, a 53-year-old singer, is celebrating his 40-year career in music with a grand dance event on October 17 at Salón Las Rosas. Ramos, who began his career at 13 in groups like Los Kenton and Tempo Dominicano, and later co-founded the orchestra Wao!, wants to revive the golden age of merengue and pay tribute to Luis Morales, former owner of the iconic Salón Villarreal.

The event will feature a nostalgic journey with performances by Fuera de Liga, Junny Ramos, and a reunion of Wao! and Los Sabrosos del Merengue, along with special guests Arnaldo Vallellanes and Carlitos Bermúdez. Ramos aims to transport his audience back to the memorable era of merengue and keep the style and its impact on Puerto Rico’s popular culture alive. He will also debut new songs from his production 'Amor que no se olvida'.
