A tropical wave is expected to reach Puerto Rico on the night of October 6, potentially causing an increase in rainfall from Wednesday to Thursday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Meteorologist Ian Colón from the NWS indicated that scattered showers could begin in the east around 4:00 AM to 5:00 AM on Wednesday and then spread to other areas.

Colón stated that the entire island could see at least some rain, and the greatest risk of flooding is currently concentrated in the north of the island. Before the tropical wave arrives, heat will be the main concern on Tuesday, with a heat advisory in effect from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM for all of Puerto Rico, Vieques, and Culebra.

The NWS also warns of a moderate risk of rip currents on the north and east coast beaches of Puerto Rico, Vieques, and Culebra on Tuesday, and recommends caution for operators of small boats. Colón anticipated that the heat will continue in the coming days, although precipitation could reduce the risk on Wednesday, but it could rise again from Thursday.
