A woman was attacked in what is believed to be an attempted home robbery in the Sabana neighborhood of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at 7:40 AM when the woman returned home after dropping off her children at school and found four men dressed in police-like uniforms waiting for her at the gate.
They demanded she open the gate, but she refused, saying she didn’t have the keys. The men then asked her to call her husband to gain access and began hitting her on the head with a firearm, causing an open wound. Neighbors intervened, with one licensed gun owner firing a warning shot to scare the attackers away.
The police, including the Cuerpo de Investigaciones Criminales (CIC) and the Unidad Aérea del Negociado de Fuerzas Unidas de Rápida Acción, are searching for the suspects in a nearby mountain area. The woman’s husband owns a horse stable, and the attackers stole a gold chain and her cell phone, which was later recovered. Captain Raúl Negrón, director of the CIC, said no suspects or evidence of injuries have been found so far.
The police are also reviewing security cameras in the area to determine if a fifth person helped the attackers escape in a vehicle.
