Puerto Rico House of Representatives Speaker Carlos "Johnny" Méndez and Rep. Elinette González, who represents District 11 (Dorado, Vega Alta and Vega Baja), reviewed the status of three drinking water projects in Dorado and Vega Alta that together total more than $16.5 million. The review took place at a working session Méndez convened at The Jane Stern Community Library in Dorado, as part of the "Cámara 100x35" initiative.

The projects discussed were: improvements to the Dorado and Vega Alta drinking water distribution system, with a $1,438,416 investment, where the hydraulic modeling is already complete; the installation of a 12-inch pipe along roads PR-690 and PR-691, plus structural improvements to the M1 tank in Vega Alta, with an allocation of $8,255,808, which are 81% complete and are expected to be inaugurated in the first three months of 2027; and the design and construction of drinking water pipe that includes the Sabana Hoyos sector of Vega Alta, which is 88% complete, is set to finish by the end of this year and has a $6,850,555 investment. Méndez said the projects are essential for these towns and their completion is important to the House.

González, who also chairs the House Natural Resources Committee, said she will keep following the projects until they become a reality. Méndez and González also secured a $15,000 legislative allocation for the library, a nonprofit, through Joint Resolution 58-2026 (2026-2027).
