The Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DRNA) has $242,889.91 in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds assigned for rehabilitation work at the Manuel 'Nolo' Morales balneario in Dorado. The work includes reconditioning the parking area, remodeling the bathrooms and administrative offices, building a new entrance booth, and cleaning and maintaining green areas. House of Representatives Speaker Carlos 'Johnny' Méndez and District #11 Representative Elinette González Aguayo, whose district covers Dorado, Vega Alta and Vega Baja, inspected the facilities on Friday.

The project is at the final design stage, and the design is expected to be submitted to FEMA for approval before the end of the year. During the visit, officials also explored the possibility of signing a Collaborative Agreement to rebuild the perimeter fence. The inspection is part of the community impact project '100 x 35'.

González Aguayo has also met with DRNA Secretary Waldemar Quiles to follow up on plans to recondition the balneario grounds, located on state road PR-697 in the Costa de Oro sector.
