Why this matters: The closure of exit 3B on the Las Américas expressway has complicated traffic for commuters traveling from San Juan to Caguas, affecting daily travel and potentially impacting work and school schedules.

A shooting incident on the Las Américas expressway (PR-18) in Puerto Rico, heading from San Juan to Caguas, caused traffic congestion on Friday morning. The incident, in which a man was shot and injured, led to the closure of exit 3B, near the Jesús T. Piñero avenue access to the expressway. Authorities are investigating the case and collecting evidence, including a motorcycle helmet, bloodstains, and at least one bullet casing found at the scene.

The injured man has not been publicly identified, and his condition is unknown. The closure of the access has complicated traffic from San Juan to Caguas as the police investigation continues. According to NotiCentro, the man arrived at a hospital with gunshot wounds after apparently being shot near exit 3B.
