The Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA) will clean the dam at the Lares Espino filter plant on Tuesday, October 27, and will also wash the sedimentation basins and flocculation chamber as required by the Department of Health. The agency says both jobs directly benefit customers by improving the plant’s operation and increasing the intake of raw water for the filtration process.
Work starts at 6:00 AM and runs for 12 hours. Customers in the Espino, La Torre, Pezuela, Buenos Aires, El 25, urban-area sectors, Palmallano, Río Prieto and La América sectors of Lares; Perchas and Mirabales in San Sebastián; Chamorro and Cerrote Bryan in Las Marías; Llanadas in Maricao; and Berrocal in Hatillo, plus nearby areas of these towns, could experience low pressure and temporary interruptions of drinking water service.
System stabilization will begin gradually from the afternoon and evening hours, assuming no problems arise, and the AAA will adjust the distribution network to minimize the impact on customers.
