Why this matters: A ticket bought in Carolina adds $100,000 to Puerto Rico’s run of Powerball secondary prizes, and local players can enter Saturday’s $674 million jackpot drawing.

A Powerball player won a $100,000 secondary prize with Power Play in the October 21 drawing, the Puerto Rico Lottery Bureau’s deputy secretary, Heidi Hernández Olivo, reported on October 22. The winning ticket was a manually played one purchased at Winners Corner in Carolina. Hernández Olivo congratulated the winner and reminded players about responsible gambling.

For the next Powerball drawing, on Saturday, October 24, the jackpot is an estimated $674 million. Powerball is played in 45 US states, Washington DC, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom.
