Puerto Rico Police Superintendent Joseph González reported early Friday, October 23, that police were conducting interventions at three public housing complexes in Cayey following residents’ complaints about shootings, drugs and firearms. Three people had been arrested as of his report, one of them facing an outstanding arrest warrant in Pennsylvania. Officers also seized two vehicles containing firearms and $200 in cash.

The intelligence we have is that they are at war over control of the drug points operating in these towns

The operation involves agents from the Puerto Rico Police Bureau, the FURA special operations unit and the Department of Housing, who are also searching vacant apartments. González said authorities had seen videos on social media showing shootings at night and in the early morning hours, in response to concerns brought by residents. "The intelligence we have is that they are at war over control of the drug points operating in these towns," González said.
