Vega Baja Mayor Pays Municipal Employees $25 Bonus per Year of Service

Published Oct 23, 2026, 11:28 PM ASTvia NotiUno

Why this matters: For Vega Baja municipal workers, the $25-per-year bonus converts years of service into cash while the mayor says essential services stay funded.

Vega Baja is recognizing the tenure of its municipal employees with a cash bonus for years of service. Mayor Marcos Cruz Molina is delivering a payment of $25 for every year worked to eligible employees and officials of the town hall. Cruz Molina explained that the incentive is the product of fiscal planning that allows the municipality to meet its labor commitments without disrupting the continuity of the essential services residents receive.

"This payment is the result of an administration that plans its resources to fulfill its obligations to its employees. We can grant the benefit and, at the same time, maintain the services we offer our people," Cruz Molina said. The bonus is authorized under Resolution 21, series 2026-2027, and is calculated based on each eligible employee’s years of service.
