A quarrel that began inside a business in the Parcelas Hill Brothers neighborhood of Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, ended early Saturday with one man struck with a bottle and another shot in the ankle, according to the Puerto Rico Police Bureau. The incident happened at around 1:30 AM at a business on 7th Street. Police classified it as an aggravated assault and a shooting incident.

The police report states that one man struck another man in the head with a glass bottle. When the establishment’s security guards tried to remove him from the premises, he allegedly pulled out a firearm and began firing. The guards repelled the aggression with their own weapons, wounding him in the ankle.

Paramedics responded to the scene, gave first aid, and took the wounded man to a hospital, where his condition is stable. He remains in police custody while the investigation proceeds. Officer Gabriel Romero, assigned to the Río Piedras precinct, conducted the preliminary investigation and referred the case to the Assault Division of the Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) in San Juan for it to continue.
