The pumpkin and the work of local vendors will take center stage at the Encuentro de Artesanos y Microempresarios (Artisans and Microentrepreneurs Fair) on Saturday, October 31 in Río Grande, Puerto Rico, as part of activities tied to the traditional Fiesta de las Calabazas. Organized by the Tourism and Culture Office of the municipal administration, the event begins at 11:00 AM at Placita Soegard, in the town’s urban center.

Attendees can taste pumpkin cookies and cakes, browse artisanal products, and visit a farm with animals. A creative pumpkin-decorating workshop for children and their families is scheduled for 12:00 noon. Mayor Ángel "Bori" González Damudt said the initiative aims to combine seasonal traditions with family recreational activities and spaces for artisans and microentrepreneurs to display their products.

According to the mayor, these fairs, held the last weekend of each month, also seek to stimulate local commerce and give entrepreneurs opportunities to grow their businesses. Artisans and microentrepreneurs interested in taking part in future editions can register their projects by calling 787-920-2056 during business hours. The activity is part of the town’s cultural and recreational programming.
