A man who had been wanted on an arrest warrant since 2024, with $1 million bail, was captured Sunday afternoon by agents of the Puerto Rico Police Bureau’s Arrests and Extraditions Division. The suspect, identified as Wilson Álvarez, 44, faced charges of weapons law violations and domestic violence under the Prevention and Intervention against Domestic Violence law.
The alleged events occurred on April 15, 2024, when Álvarez arrived at his partner’s residence, used a key to enter, and struck her with a machete on her right arm, breaking her cell phone, in the presence of a minor. The victim escaped to seek help and was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.
Álvarez then took the victim’s purses, personal documents, internet equipment, speakers and other belongings. After his capture, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) took custody of the man. He was brought before Judge Brenda Salas, who ordered him held at the Bayamón Correctional Complex after he did not post the imposed bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 6, 2026.
