The Puerto Rico Police Bureau is searching for Yeremy Daniel Albizu Capestany, a 24-year-old resident of Juana Díaz, on charges of fraud and illegal appropriation in September of this year. According to the police press office, the Robbery, Extortion, Property, Assaults and Missing Persons Division (REPAPD) of the Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) of Guayama investigated complaints that Albizu Capestany posed as a representative of a cargo transportation company and offered job opportunities to people in Guayama and Salinas.
As part of the hiring scheme, he allegedly requested different amounts of money to cover the costs of certifications, insurance and permits needed to work. Six victims performed work without receiving pay and later discovered he did not belong to the company nor was authorized to hire personnel, so they filed complaints. Prosecutor Brenda Soto filed the charges, and Judge Cynthia M. Vázquez Peña issued arrest warrants with bail set at $60,000.
Anyone with information leading to his arrest may contact agent Ernesto Espada of the Special Arrests and Extraditions Division of Guayama at (787) 866-2020, extension 1571, or the Police Bureau’s confidential line at (787) 343-2020.
