Judge Katarina Stipec Rubio, of the Court of First Instance in Puerto Rico, sanctioned urban artist Ramón Ayala Rodríguez, known as Daddy Yankee, with a $5,000 fine under Rules of Professional Conduct 9.1 and 9.3, plus $1,500 in fees and expenses payable to his ex-wife Mireddys González Castellanos, in the active case in which Ayala Rodríguez seeks the involuntary dissolution of the entities Los Cangris, Inc., Green Wall Luxury, LLC, Crabby Cottage, LLC and C&C Artistic Management Corp. The judge issued a protective order on October 7 that vacated the deposition of Alejandra Piazza Galarza, Ayala Rodríguez’s attorney and accountant, which had been scheduled for October 13, because the party that announced the deposition did not show the information could not be obtained through less onerous means. She granted González Castellanos 60 days to conduct discovery by other methods and criticized Ayala Rodríguez’s legal team for acting hurriedly despite being copied on the process since July.

On October 20, González Castellanos’s legal team filed a motion for reconsideration, arguing she had completed sufficient discovery and that the order made no finding on the lawyer-client, accountant-client or work product privileges. The next hearing is set for December 2 at 2:00 PM in Room 602 of the Court of First Instance in San Juan.
