Ten years after the enactment of the PROMESA law and the creation of the Financial Oversight and Management Board (JSF), the Puerto Rico Economists Association (AEPR) will present results of a survey measuring its members’ assessment of the federal body’s management and impact on the island. The findings will be released at the organization’s 42nd Annual Assembly, during a panel titled "A decade of PROMESA: effectiveness, achievements and challenges."
The panel is scheduled for Friday, October 30, from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM at the Holiday Inn Mayagüez & Tropical Casino. Journalist Joanisabel González will offer a comprehensive assessment of the economic, institutional and social changes during the period. Economist Indira Luciano Montalvo will address the implications of the Board’s actions, while Dr. Julio César Hernández Correa, AEPR president-elect, will detail the results of the survey of economics professionals.
The discussion will be moderated by economist and attorney Kevin González Toro. The analysis will examine the scope, limitations and consequences that ten years of federal fiscal oversight have had on economic development, the functioning of public institutions and the island’s finances. More information is available on the AEPR website.
