The Caguas Municipal Administration will hold its third dog and cat sterilization clinic on Saturday, October 31, starting at 6:30 AM at the Roger Mendoza court, as part of its efforts to promote animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. Mayor William Miranda Torres said the event will offer 250 slots and requires a $10 contribution per animal, and is exclusive to Caguas residents.
Participants must present a water or electricity bill as proof of residence, be over 18, and may bring only one animal per family. Pets must be between three months and six years old and weigh between three and 40 pounds. Animals will be evaluated by medical staff before the procedure and must fast for four hours if under one year old, or six hours if older.
The initiative is carried out with the collaboration of Veterinarians for Puerto Rico and the Movimiento Social Pro-Bienestar Animal (MOSPBA). It also received a new $10,000 contribution from Representative José "Conny" Varela Fernández, bringing his support for these clinics to $20,000. The Municipal Administration set a goal of reaching 2,000 sterilizations by 2028.
