Toyota de Puerto Rico announced a $55 million expansion of its vehicle and parts distribution center in Toa Baja, to be carried out over the next five years with work expected to finish in 2031. The complex sits beside the PR-22 expressway between Bayamón and Dorado and has operated since 2008. Although the investment will benefit the entire complex, the parts operation will see the largest growth, a 30% expansion from the current 100,000 square feet to 130,000 square feet.

From there, parts are distributed to all 22 Toyota dealerships and service centers in Puerto Rico, the two Lexus locations, and the two Toyota locations in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The center already stores almost half a million parts, most of them components installed under warranty and maintenance programs for new and recent models. It also holds parts for older vehicles; one of the facility’s managers said the oldest parts in inventory are for the 1974 Corolla.
Company officials describe the center as "the heart of Toyota’s operations in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands." The complex also distributes cars: Toyota and Lexus vehicles arrive from factories in Japan, the United States and Mexico before being sent to dealerships in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Each year it receives, processes, prepares and distributes more than 35,000 vehicles and can hold up to 1,000 at a time.
