The documentary 'Concepción', about the life and legacy of Puerto Rican trumpeter, composer and orchestra leader César Concepción (1909-1974), opens November 12 in Caribbean Cinemas theaters across Puerto Rico. It is presented by the Fundación César Concepción together with directors Jochi Melero and Carlos Larrieu of production company Nostrom. On Friday, November 13, at 6:30 PM, the event 'Concepción: Regreso a Cayey' will be held at the Teatro Municipal de Cayey, hosted by Mayor Rolando Ortiz, with teacher Ismael 'Maelo' González as master of ceremonies, symbolically returning the musician’s legacy to his hometown.

That same morning, three Cayey high schools will screen the documentary. The film has already been shown at festivals including the Puerto Rico Film Festival, ARFF Barcelona, Buenos Aires International Film Festival, New York Film & Cinematography Awards and the Hispanic International Film Festival, where it received the Outstanding Excellence recognition. From November 10 to 15 it will participate in the International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival in New York.

César Concepción, son, president of the foundation, said the premiere returns an essential part of Puerto Rico’s musical memory to new generations and thanked Ortiz for his support.
