Why this matters: The Bayamón police region, which includes Toa Baja, has logged 41 carjackings through Wednesday, up from 32 at the same point in 2025, a trend relevant to drivers across the metro area’s northern towns.

A woman was assaulted and robbed of her vehicle at gunpoint in a carjacking Thursday night in Toa Baja, the Puerto Rico Police Bureau reported. The armed robbery of the vehicle was reported at about 10:49 AM, according to the report, in the parking lots of the Lago Vista condominium in Levittown. According to the complainant’s account, "two hooded individuals dressed in black assaulted her, threw her to the ground and, by intimidating her with a rifle-type firearm, stripped her of her gray 2022 Hyundai Kona."

The police report added that the vehicle was later recovered on A Street in the Amelia ward, Vietnam sector, in front of the Pentecostal church in Guaynabo.
