Criminal charges for carrying, transporting or using a firearm without a license and illegal appropriation were filed against Jonathan Y. Melecio Valderrama, 31, a resident of Toa Baja, the Puerto Rico Police Bureau’s press office reported. Agents from the Carolina Motorized Unit stopped Melecio Valderrama on October 30 while he was traveling on PR-181 in Trujillo Alto on an all-terrain vehicle (four-track).
The agents seized a Springfield Armory Hellcat pistol, 9mm caliber, and confiscated a Yamaha all-terrain vehicle. The evidence was presented before Judge Orlando Puldón of the Carolina court, who found probable cause for arrest and set bail at $10,000, which the defendant posted through a private bail bondsman. He remained free on bail pending the preliminary hearing. Agent Salyan Torres Parrilla led the investigation.
