An 11-year-old girl died shortly after noon on Saturday, November 7, after a gate fell on her in the Linda Mar neighborhood, Mar Chiquita sector, in Manatí, Puerto Rico, according to Mayra Ortiz, press officer for the Puerto Rico Police in Arecibo. A call to the 9-1-1 Emergency System at about 1:04 PM alerted authorities to the incident.
Police described the incident as "unfortunate." Ortiz said only that "an 11-year-old girl had a gate fall on her and died" and did not detail how it happened. The Arecibo Criminal Investigations Corps is investigating.
