Tres Palmas, also known as Steps Beach, is a marine reserve located in western Puerto Rico. It protects one of the Caribbean's largest elkhorn coral stands, situated just off the beach.
The reserve is suitable for diving and surfing. During the summer, the calm seas make it a premier spot for snorkeling and shallow diving, while in the winter, the reef creates a big-wave break that is popular among surfers. The best time to visit is from April to September, when the water is flat and clear.
