The Puerto Rico House of Representatives approved the government's budget for the next fiscal year, with 35 votes in favor and 17 against. The budget, which totals $13,180 million from the General Fund, is considered a step towards achieving a second consecutive balanced fiscal year, as required by the Fiscal Oversight Board (JSF). The largest allocations are for payroll and pensions, totaling over $6,000 million.

Other notable allocations include $25 million for road maintenance, $20 million for the Ama de Llaves program, $15 million for electronic voting machines, and $561 million for the University of Puerto Rico. The budget also includes funds for salary adjustments for police officers, the purchase of maritime transportation vessels, and the implementation of public service reform. According to House President Carlos 'Johnny' Méndez, this budget brings Puerto Rico closer to regaining control over its administration and decision-making.

The measure now moves forward, with various allocations and adjustments made in negotiations with the JSF.
