Updated Jun 23, 2026 · via Primera Hora

Kelvin Javier Bonilla Nieves, a 36-year-old resident of Vega Baja, was arrested on Monday due to an arrest warrant for charges of robbery, mistreatment, aggravated mistreatment, and threat under the Domestic Violence Prevention and Intervention Law (Ley 54). The warrant was issued by Judge Carolina Guzmán of the Bayamón Court of First Instance with a $200,000 bail.

The alleged incident occurred on May 28, when Bonilla Nieves allegedly assaulted his ex-partner in a gender violence incident. After the incident, Agent Bryan Bowden consulted with Prosecutor Alberto Cruz, who instructed the filing of charges in absentia.

The arrest warrant was then executed before Judge Nadja Banuchi, who ordered Bonilla Nieves' admission to the Bayamón Correctional Complex's Institution 705 after he failed to post bail. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a later date.
