Man Known as 'Papito' Charged and Jailed for Alleged Domestic Violence Incident in Carolina

Julio E. Ferrer Taveras, also known as 'Papito', a 40-year-old man, has been charged with domestic violence under Law 54 for the Prevention and Intervention of Domestic Violence. According to the police investigation, Ferrer Taveras arrived at the victim's residence on June 27 and threatened her, exercising psychological violence to have unwanted sexual relations.

The case was presented to Judge Lisa M. Durán Ortiz of the San Juan Tribunal, who determined cause and set a $30,000 bond, which Ferrer Taveras did not pay, leading to his imprisonment at the Institution Penal 705 in Bayamón. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 10, 2026, at 8:30 am.

The charges were filed after consultation with prosecutors Marilyn Aponte Rodríguez and Cristina María Cacho Quiñonez.
