The cases were part of the National Health Care Fraud Takedown 2026, a federal initiative that resulted in 455 people being charged with stealing over $6.5 billion from programs like Medicaid. Gómez Torres announced that 173 charges were filed against a doctor, a medical office administrator, and a laboratory for allegedly defrauding Medicaid and multiple health plans. The scheme involved filing false claims totaling $1,704,122.75, with the defendants allegedly appropriating $1,012,448.04. One case, referred by insurer MCS, was filed against Dr. Jorge Rodríguez Wilson, Wilson Orthopaedics Medical and Rehabilitation, and administrator Javier Ortiz Hernández.
Rodríguez Wilson faces 81 charges, including practicing medicine illegally and submitting false claims to Medicaid. Wilson Orthopaedics Medical and Rehabilitation faces 64 charges, and Ortiz Hernández faces 28 charges.
