The death of 20-year-old tow truck driver Armando 'Armandito' Rodríguez Rodríguez, who was struck and killed on December 15, 2025, while working on the PR-52 expressway in Caguas, has left a deep emotional impact on his family. His father, Segismundo Rodríguez, expressed his pain after attending a preliminary hearing at the Caguas Tribunal against Oscar A. Serrano Rivera, the 23-year-old suspect accused of causing the accident.
Rodríguez shared a message on social media, accompanied by a photo of a banner with his son's image and the word 'justicia,' saying he had to stop and cry. He also discussed the investigation, revealing that according to satellite tracking data, Serrano Rivera allegedly hit his son at 6:13 p.m., drove away, and later passed by the accident scene with his mother at 8:33 p.m. without stopping. The case is being heard by Judge Isander J.
Rivera Morales, and the defendant's lawyer, Harry Padilla, is currently conducting a counter-interrogation of the investigating agent. The Caguas Prosecutor's Office presented charges against Serrano Rivera on April 9 for allegedly causing Rodríguez Rodríguez's death while he was assisting a citizen with his tow truck.
