The Autoridad para el Financiamiento de la Vivienda (AFV) announced that at least seven affordable housing projects will be inaugurated in the coming months, adding over 800 affordable residences in Puerto Rico. According to AFV Executive Director Ricardo Álvarez Barreto, the projects include Bahía Palmas in Cataño with 104 units, Brisas de Arroyo with 104 units, Brisas del Mar Village in Guayama with 123 units, Vista del Norte in Guaynabo with 102 units, and Jardines de Loíza with 104 units.
Two additional projects, Casa Metropolitana in San Juan and Égida 837 in Guaynabo, are also underway. Álvarez Barreto mentioned that the Mirasol project in Yabucoa, which has 149 units, has a waiting list of nearly 1,100 people, while the Ensueño project in Cupey has a waiting list of almost 5,000.
The first 15 homes of the Mirasol project were recently delivered, with a monthly rent of $533, including the cost of electricity and featuring solar panels and cisterns. The AFV aims to provide dignified and quality housing for low- and moderate-income individuals and families, with 23 units in the Mirasol project designed for people with disabilities.
