On July 4th, various municipalities and businesses across Puerto Rico are celebrating with gastronomic activities open to the public. The Aguadilla BBQ Freedom Fest, a culinary and tourist event, is being held at Paseo Real Marina, where teams from different parts of the island are competing in a BBQ competition. The event started at 8:00 a.m. and teams are preparing their proposals for different categories that will be evaluated throughout the day.
Participants will compete for cash prizes, with a panel of six judges deliberating based on criteria such as flavor, texture, and appearance. Aguadilla Mayor Julio Roldán stated that the event aims to promote gastronomic tourism, attract visitors, and strengthen local economic activity. The festival will also feature musical performances starting at 1:00 p.m.
Other gastronomic events taking place this weekend include the Feria de la Agricultura in Lajas, the Coffee Fest in Poliniza, and an event at the Coliseo Ismael 'Chavalillo' Delgado in Aguada, which will feature educational workshops, culinary exhibitions, and musical performances.
