The Venezuelan children who won the Latin American and Caribbean Children's Baseball Series in Loíza will return to their country with 21 suitcases full of essential items to distribute to those affected by two recent earthquakes. The initiative was launched by a Loíza merchant and supported by the town's mayor, Julia Nazario Fuentes. The suitcases contain items such as bandages, sanitary towels, soap, and toothbrushes.
Each Venezuelan team member will carry a suitcase, which will be delivered to a collection center of their choice. The airline Avianca will not charge for the additional luggage, thanks to the efforts of a young Loíza resident who works at the Luis Muñoz Marín airport. Mayor Nazario Fuentes expressed her gratitude to all those who contributed to the collection of donations, highlighting the generosity and solidarity of the people of Loíza and Puerto Rico.
The baseball series, which featured 14 countries and 250 participating children, took place in a wonderful sports atmosphere.
