A fatal traffic accident occurred this morning on PR-116 in Guánica, at kilometer 15.4. According to preliminary reports from the Highway Patrol Bureau, the emergency call was received at 6:51 a.m. through the 911 Emergency System. The investigation found that the driver of a 2020 white Mitsubishi G4 was passing several vehicles in the opposite lane and collided with a black Toyota Corolla at a curve.
The front passenger of the Mitsubishi suffered severe injuries and died instantly, reported Captain Elvis Zeno Santiago. The driver who caused the accident was taken to Sabana Grande hospital and is in stable condition. Blood samples were taken to determine if she was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Toyota driver received first aid and is also in stable condition. Agents from the Ponce Highway Patrol Division, along with the on-duty prosecutor, are handling the investigation.
