A 19-year-old man, Miguel Benítez Pérez, died after a traffic accident on PR-149, kilometer 65.1, in Juana Díaz. According to the preliminary investigation by the Ponce Highway Patrol Division, Benítez Pérez was driving a 1997 Toyota Corolla when he allegedly made a left turn at a red light and was struck on the right side by a Honda Ridgeline driven by a 30-year-old man who had the green light.
Benítez Pérez was taken to the Menonita Hospital in Ponce by Emergency Medical paramedics, where he was later pronounced dead in the early hours of Wednesday. Agent Ydda Valpais and prosecutor Jorge Martínez are handling the investigation.
The accident occurred on Tuesday.
