Fernando Pérez Norat, a doctor in Caribbean History, has gained recognition for his art under the name Tropiwhat, illustrating the cover of Bad Bunny and Tommy Torres' single 'El Playlist de Anoche' and gathering a community of thousands of followers on Instagram. Pérez Norat's work combines themes of identity with Puerto Rican folklore to create an intimate narrative about life in Puerto Rico.
He has over 65,000 followers on Instagram and had his first exhibition in Puerto Rico at the Embajada gallery in June 2021. Pérez Norat, who is from Aibonito and currently lives in San Juan, studied at the University of Puerto Rico and later pursued a doctorate in Caribbean History at Brown University.
