UPR-Mayagüez Interim Chancellor Booed at Graduation Ceremony

The University of Puerto Rico's Mayagüez Campus (RUM) held the first two of three graduation ceremonies on Thursday, with the first marked by protests against interim chancellor Miguel Muñoz Muñoz. Attendees booed him inside the Rafael Mangual Coliseum; faculty on stage turned their backs, and others held signs reading "Funds for UPR, not for Politank" and "End partisan intervention in UPR." Students raised red cards—soccer's expulsion signal—and shouted "Out!" UPR President Zayira Jordán Conde did not attend the College of Arts and Sciences ceremony held Thursday morning.

Last semester, RUM students led an indefinite strike lasting over a month against Jordán Conde's actions, delaying the academic year's end. Tainary Delgado, president of Mayagüez's General Student Council, praised the student movement in her address, saying the university
