Five young men were shot Tuesday night between highways PR-142 and PR-159 in Corozal, Puerto Rico, according to a police investigation. The victims were on their way to complete a vehicle transaction when they were attacked; full circumstances, including how they were shot or whether the attack came from a moving vehicle, remain unknown. The fatal victim was identified as Jesús D.
Rivera Malpica, 20, who police said had a prior criminal record under the Weapons Law. He was riding a motorcycle while the other four followed in a Honda Accord. The wounded were two minors, ages 16 and 17, Josean J.
Otero Olivo, 18, and Ángel M. Ortiz Arroyo, 22. Lieutenant Alexis Soberal, director of the Homicide Division of the Bayamón Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC), said that after the shooting, the wounded continued driving and reached Dorado Health seeking medical assistance.
