The Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) of Caguas has an unofficial identification of a man found dead inside a car trunk in Aguas Buenas, according to Lt. Luis López, assistant director of the CIC in Caguas, who spoke to El Nuevo Día on Saturday. Officials are awaiting official confirmation from the Institute of Forensic Sciences (ICF), where people claiming to be relatives of the victim were expected to appear.
The victim, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was found Friday inside the trunk of a Toyota Corolla abandoned in a wooded area along PR-174 in the Mulas neighborhood. López clarified that, contrary to earlier reports, the man was not gagged. Investigators are reviewing security cameras along various routes to reconstruct the vehicle's prior movements and determine where the crime occurred, since the location—about 10 minutes from Guaynabo—is described as a solitary spot.
López said it has not been ruled out that the victim was killed elsewhere and later transported to Aguas Buenas. The vehicle is registered to a friend of the victim. Authorities have not yet established a motive, saying the investigation remains in early stages.
