Father and Teenage Son Shot to Death Inside Car in Peñuelas

Police in Puerto Rico are investigating the fatal shooting of a man and his teenage son, whose bodies were found late Wednesday night in Peñuelas. The incident was reported around 9:58 p.m. on PR-383 at its intersection with PR-3132, after a 911 call alerted authorities to gunshots in the area.

Responding officers found both victims dead inside a gray Toyota Corolla, each showing multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of the body. The victims were identified as Alfredo Rivera Rivera, 37, and his minor son, Yeriel Omar Rivera Morales, 16.

Agent José González Alameda of the Homicide Division of the Criminal Investigations Corps in Ponce, along with prosecutor Alberto Flores Bermúdez, are leading the investigation. According to police, this brings the total number of homicides in Puerto Rico so far this year to 303, three fewer than the 306 recorded by the same date in 2025.
