Puerto Rican sprinter José Figueroa finished sixth in the 200 meters final at the Diamond League in Brussels, Belgium, with a time of 20.44 seconds. The 21-year-old athlete, who was participating in his first Diamond League final, said 'being here means a lot' and that it is 'another step to demonstrate that Puerto Rico can be present in big competitions.' American Kenneth Bednarek won the event with a time of 19.62 seconds, followed by South African Sinesipho Dambile and Zimbabwean Makanakaishe Charamba.
Figueroa had presented the third-best mark of the season among the eight runners in the final, but was surpassed by Bednarek, Dambile, and others. He concluded the Diamond League season with four appearances and will next compete in the Ultimate Championship of World Athletics in Budapest, Hungary, from September 11 to 13.
