Puerto Rico police identified the body of a shot teenager found Wednesday in Arroyo as Yediel Torrales Lazú, 16. The body was discovered around 6:00 p.m. on the grounds of the former Lafayette sugar mill after a call alerted authorities to a violent crime. Drug Division agents from the Guayama police region responded and found the body, showing gunshot wounds, in a vacant lot.
Torrales Lazú's listed residence was the Casa de Niños Manuel Fernández Juncos, a group home in San Juan. He was one of several teenagers recently reported missing from that home; others have since been found safe, but 15-year-old Damon Córdova Rivera remains missing. Homicide Division agents of the Bureau of Criminal Investigations (CIC) in Guayama, along with the on-duty prosecutor, are handling the investigation.
Police urged anyone with information that could help locate Córdova Rivera to call the confidential tip line at 787-343-2020 or the SAIC's Missing Persons Coordinator Office at 787-793-1234, extensions 2463 or 2464.
