Major League Baseball (MLB) celebrates Roberto Clemente Day on Tuesday with special activities at 15 parks, including the PNC Park in Pittsburgh, where Clemente played his entire career until his death on December 31, 1972. The Pittsburgh Pirates will distribute 21,000 Roberto Clemente bobbleheads to fans attending the game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
All players from both teams will wear the number 21 on their jerseys in honor of Clemente. The game will also feature a Spanish-language radio broadcast with Roberto Clemente Jr. and Carlos Baerga, who have invited Carlos Beltrán and Albert Pujols to participate.
The Pirates organization will participate in community activities, including renovating baseball and softball fields, distributing food to communities, and visiting local schools. Puerto Rican players Francisco Lindor and George Springer are among the 30 candidates for the Roberto Clemente Award, one from each team.
