The Unión Independiente Auténtica de Empleados de la Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (UIA-AAA) announced Thursday that a meeting at the Department of Labor and Human Resources (DTRH) produced significant progress in negotiations over the Plan de Clasificación y Retribución (PCR) for unionized workers at the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA). Cajigas Romero said the union has firmly defended members' demands while remaining open to dialogue, and that the discussion allows progress toward a possible conclusion. The union said it is not yet appropriate to disclose figures, specific economic terms, or final details, since formal steps remain. AAA's administration must present the agreed terms to the AAA Governing Board for consideration, and the UIA must later convene a membership assembly to present and seek ratification of the terms before the end of the month.
Cajigas Romero said the union's Central Executive Committee's role is to negotiate and bring members a complete, clear proposal for their evaluation and ratification, and that the committee will continue working on stipulation and documentation in coming days.
