Governor Jenniffer González Colón laid the first stone for the rehabilitation and modernization project of the Asunción Rodríguez de Sala High School in Guayanilla, joined by Mayor Raúl Rivera, Education Secretary Eliezer Ramos, Senator Jamie Barlucea, and COR3 Executive Director María Marín. The $24,990,001 investment is part of the New Schools Program under FEMA DR-4339 and aims to repair damage associated with Hurricane María. It will directly benefit 378 students in ninth through twelfth grade currently enrolled at the vocational high school.
González Colón said the project would provide students and teachers with modern, safe and resilient spaces. Planned work includes comprehensive rehabilitation of existing buildings, structural repairs, and upgrades to electrical, sanitary, potable water, and stormwater systems, as well as improvements to access roads and parking areas. The project also includes creating spaces for Special Education and Technical and Vocational Education programs.
Construction has been authorized to proceed since August 3, 2026, and the project is currently in the preconstruction and initial mobilization phase, with substantial completion projected for January 2028 and final completion in February 2028.
