The Unión Independiente Auténtica de Empleados de la Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (UIA-AAA) membership has ratified, in a nearly unanimous vote, the agreements reached with the Administración de la Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AAA) regarding the new Plan de Clasificación y Retribución (PCR). The decision was made during an assembly held in Arecibo, where the UIA leadership presented and explained the terms of the agreement to the members.
The agreements include maintaining a retroactive calculation from October 23, 2025, and requesting the Junta de Supervisión Fiscal to review the assignment of scales for 14 classes of positions. Additionally, the agreements propose increasing the first salary scale from $10.92 to $12.00 per hour and the second scale from $11.74 to $12.25 per hour. The UIA will continue to monitor the process as the agreements are considered by the AAA's Junta de Gobierno and the Junta de Supervisión Fiscal before implementation can begin.
José E. Cajigas Romero, president of the UIA-AAA, stated that the membership has spoken clearly and that the nearly unanimous support demonstrates the consensus reached among members after a negotiation process. The UIA will follow up on the next steps to ensure the agreements become a reality for the workers.
